    I'm a native New Yorker

    1) The Yellow cabs are a rip off- use the subway

    2) Besides the obvious Central Park, there's also Riverside Park and Prospect Park

    3) The Williamsburg Bridge is a less congested alternative for walking than the Brooklyn Bridge

    4) There are a bunch of $1 pizza places all over Manhattan (though not all of them are clean. Use discretion- if you see a bunch of tourists there, it's legit)

    5) The kids probably won't like the Met Museum, but they'll love the American Museum of Natural History

    6) The Staten Island Ferry is a FREE ferry ride and refreshing on a hot day

    7) The Feast of San Gennaro is an Italian-themed street fair in Little Italy in early September

    8) Check out the Yankees and/or the Mets
