Top Things to Do in Madison, Wisconsin | 10K Road Trip Vlog 41
The State Capitol Building is the #1 thing to do in Madison, Wisconsin, and for good reason. It’s AMAZING. We’ve been to a ton of incredible buildings all around the world, from Europe to Asia, and this deserves to be on the list.
The architecture and materials used are beautiful. The tour is interesting and informative (and FREE) and lasts for one hour. Tours are daily except holidays, from 9am to 3pm on the hour except for a break at noon. Sundays are only 1-3pm. The summer has an additional 4pm tour and apparently the observation deck is only open in summer. Check out all the tour details on the Capitol’s website:
We highly recommend the tour, but you can always take the self-guided tour if you want.
The University of Wisconsin is also at the top of the list of things to do in Madison. The campus is beautiful, but the main reason you should go there is to visit the Daily Scoop (Babcock Hall Ice Cream) located at Memorial Union Terrace, right on the lake on campus. It’s so creamy, so smooth, and so delicious. Let me know if you get the Freshman 15 – that’s 15 scoops, 5 toppings, whipped cream, and a cherry!
Number 3 on the list of top things to do in Madison is to eat the Fried Cheese Curds. We got ours from The Old Fashioned because it is one of the highest rated restaurants in the city and it’s conveniently right next to the Capitol Building. The fried cheese curds are fantastic and you should plan a cheat day around them.
Thanks for joining us on this road trip! We hope you’re having as much fun as we are. 🙂
